Yūgen: Between Stars and Silence is a poetic sci-fi short film that follows Aiko, a quiet young woman lost in the noise of Tokyo life. One night, under a breathtaking sky filled with stars, she is mysteriously drawn into a dreamlike cosmos where she meets Kira, an elegant, enigmatic space-faring female android who expresses the beauty of the universe through silent movement and cosmic art.
As Aiko drifts between reality and this surreal realm, she begins to understand the profound beauty of emptiness (余白の美, yohaku no bi) and the mysterious, unseen depth of the cosmos (幽玄, yūgen). Floating among 星 (hoshi, stars), the sky and space become a living canvas—an artistic bridge between Aiko’s fragile human world and Kira’s eternal, mechanical grace.
Through abstract patterns of light, movement, and stardust, their silent bond awakens Aiko’s creative spirit, allowing her to find peace, expression, and meaning in the spaces between.
Blending ethereal visuals with minimalist storytelling, Yūgen is a meditative journey between two worlds—where art becomes language, and the beauty of silence paints the connection between soul and machine.
